Our Governing Body is made up of an elected group of parents, community members, school staff and local authority personnel who give up their time voluntarily. The Governing Body's role within the school is to oversee the running of the school, provide strategic direction and support the Headteacher and staff in the effective management of the school.
Our Chair of Governors is Emma Davies and our Vice Chair is Lee Howard-Armitage. Should you need to contact them, this can be done via the main office.
Governor Feedback
"I went to watch the children singing at Runcorn Shopping City on Saturday and just wanted to feed back what a fantastic performance they all gave! It was wonderful to watch and listen to and really put me (and everyone there) in the Christmas spirit. They all did a brilliant job and all looked to be really enjoying themselves too. Please pass my thanks and congratulations on to the children and staff for such a great concert!"
Emma Davies- Chair of Governors
"In summary this great understanding from the children, the ability for them to apply their learning in written pieces, and their use of feedback and marking show some excellent progress being made within English across Beechwood. When discussing marking the children preferred verbal feedback over written feedback, something that the school had made a conscious decision to do earlier this year. They knew they could make their writing much better, and we were able to talk about the way they used iPads and dictionaries to improve that published writing.
This triangulation of evidence, within planning, writing and then the children’s words themselves show a real quality of teaching and learning within English."
David Paton- English Curriculum Governor
"It was evident that children were learning through play, independently exploring the area, using creativity and communication skills. It was refreshing to see independence and problem solving encouraged with the children and it was evident that they were all having a wonderful time and building confidence through play."
Emma Davies- Chair of Governors after observing a forest school session
"I visited the Lewis Carroll classroom, and this was a lovely space, very calming with a range of resources available. Children were utilising the play equipment outside and this was an enriching and supportive environment. I also visited the sensory room which is an excellent facility used by children across the whole school."
"one of the strengths of the school in relation to SEND children is that everyone works incredibly hard to ensure SEND children are included and thrive. This is something I would wholly agree with and have seen evidence of over the years both as a parent and Governor. There is a high level of need across all year groups, and the school are good at adapting to the needs of the children."
