Forest Schools offer children a wide range of benefits, both educational and personal. They promote physical health through outdoor activity and improve motor skills, coordination, and resilience. Being in nature enhances mental well-being, reduces stress, and encourages curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Forest Schools also develop social skills, teamwork, and communication as children work together on tasks and challenges. Importantly, they foster independence, confidence, and a strong connection with the natural environment, encouraging respect and care for nature.
At Beechwood, we have two Forest School Teachers: Mrs Forshaw and Mrs Woodcock. Each class is given half term block of time in our forest, known as The Dell. Reception and Lewis Carroll classes have sessions all year round.Â
