Singapore Maths

Beechwood aims to deliver a Mastery Mathematics curriculum where all learners, with effort, will meet expectations. Beechwood Primary School works on the premise that great teaching, based on formative assessment, particularly great questioning, is key. Mathematics teaches us how to make sense of the world around us through developing a child’s ability to calculate, to reason and to solve problems. It enables children to understand and appreciate relationships and patterns in both number and space in their everyday lives.

In 2016, Beechwood Primary adopted Singapore Maths as its main approach to delivering a mastery curriculum. The Maths — No Problem! Primary Programme supplies teachers with what they need to ensure pupils attain higher results, remove uncertainty about how best to teach so pupils understand and stop wasting time searching for examples to use. By using research and evidence-based lessons written by the world’s leading experts and practical guidelines on how to teach based on research, staff at Beechwood Primary are able to focus on planning lessons to meet the needs of their pupils.
The Maths — No Problem! Primary Maths Series has been created using the principles of Singapore mathematics and is fully aligned to the 2014 English national curriculum. The Programme provides all the elements that teachers need to teach maths for mastery with confidence.
